How to Make Idli Sambar at Home, Easy way to make Idli Sambar at home, Idli Sambar Recipe

Ingredients:

Thoor dhal – ½ cup
Pumpkin – ¾ cup
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard – 1/8 tsp
Fenugreek – ¼ tsp
Red chilies – 3
Green chilies – 2
Curry leaves as required
Coriander leaves as required
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Shallots (small onions) – 10-15
Tomato – 1
Sambar powder – 3-4 tsp
Tamarind water
Salt as required

Step by Step Instructions:

Do it properly by reading below instructions:

  • Add Thoor dhal, pumpkin, salt and required water in cooker. Set the flame in medium and wait for 4-5 vessels.
  • At the same time in pan heat the oil, after that add mustard, fenugreek, red chilies, curry leaves, turmeric, asafeotida and stir well.
  • Then add small onions, let it cook for some minutes to fry. Next add tomato, green chili and sambar powder. Cook it for 3 minutes.
  • After that add dhal and pumpkin with lemon sized tamarind soaked in water and required water, salt for sambar. Stir well and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • Next add coriander leaves and ghee then turn off the flame.
  • Now our sambar is ready to serve with idly, dosai, pongal, etc,.
